Monique Compton
I started riding horses at a young under my aunt, Robin, who was a jumper on the Texas A&M Equestrian Team. My passion grew when I found my mother's Bob Loomis training videos. I loved how soft Bob was with his young horses and I knew I wanted to follow his style of training. When I was 9, I met Charlotte Pirtle who would be my trainer for many years. Under Mrs. Pirtle, I won several ribbons, and other prizes including a buckle in speed events. Once I entered high school, I began training my own horses for barrels. I was very successful with my horses. In 4H, you had to show all around to gather points for the high point buckle. So I took my barrel gelding and showed him in everything. We took the buckle home. I took a break from riding and competing for 5 years when I had my 2 boys. In 2010, I started training and selling horses professionally. I have trained horses who have done well in barrel racing. I switched over to Ranch Sorting for a while and have done well in this event. I have also competed in stock horse classes, cutting, and reining. I have given lessons over the years and my students have done well in competition. I have plenty of experience with problem horses and start young horses. I have a soft hand but am also firm. I am big on horsemanship. My niche are those troubled or "diamound in the rough" type horses. My plan for 2019 is to compete in stock horse shows. I love being able to build the connections between a horse and their rider.
